    Press release from JoWooD:
Rottenmann, Austria, 22nd of March - JoWooD Productions Software AG will handle worldwide publishing and marketing of videogames based on MGM Television's hit science-fiction series, "Stargate SG-1."
As part of the agreement, Australian developer Perception PTY Ltd. will develop videogames based on the current TV series "Stargate SG-1," and any spin-off series such as the upcoming "Stargate: Atlantis." Perception PTY licensed the rights to develop "Stargate SG-1" videogames from MGM Interactive, a unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. (NYSE:MGM).

"Stargate SG-1" is one of television's best-known science-fiction properties, garnering the genre's best ratings in the United States as the No. 1 series on the Sci Fi Channel. It is broadcast in more than 60 other countries as well. Its popularity also has fueled a successful series of DVD releases of the show's episodes.

    ...

    More here.

I hope they're pretty good, obviously an FPS is pretty much guaranteed, I wouldn't mind an adventure game though.

    :p

This is from the Perception website:
While producing its own original content titles, the company is also working
closely with a major film studio on a licensed property for all major platforms,
which it hopes to announce shortly. The game is an action packed First Person
    Shooter.

So it's just in fps they're working on. I hope we have the ability to go to various worlds using the DHD's, the game will probably be linear with missions to complete but we can hope all the same.

I'd say we'll see some of it come E3 in May.

The first game being made is a RPG. I was hopeing the first game would be a FPS but if the rpg is anything like SWKOTR then we are going to be very happy people.

Did I miss the word RPG somewhere there usr? Looks an awful lot like FPS to me...

I'm hoping the DHD is a bit like Doom3's button interface, i.e. you walk up to it, and the crosshair turns into a mouse pointer where you can select the keys yourself. With a bit of background lighting to guide you to the correct Chevrons, of course!

I can't say the RPG wpild light my fire but i'd give it a go anyway.

But the FPS would be ledgend IMO....ofcourse they could always screw it up and push out some load of crap.... not beyond the real of extreme possibility.

Just imagin though if they decided to intergrate everything into the game...gliders/staff weapons/normal projectile weapons/gould weapons.... PHOA!!!!

Now i'd buy that for a dollar.

Thats a Half-Life mod that has been under dev for years. The game itself is pretty impressive in parts and pretty pathetic in others.

The gate graphics are excellent and the weapons are class too.

You can pick to be a Go'auld and u can throw symbionts at other players and the symbionts will chase the tari round the level.

I always thought stargate was a good idea for a game most likely suited to FPS the killer application in it that i see is you could dial differant planets and the in game graphics of travelling thruogh the wormhole could hide the fact the dreaded loading screen is operating you pop out the other side and to the gamer it looks seamless.
There is nothing worse than all those loading screen's to spoil a gaming experience Max Payne 1 or 2 being the classic example:(

Muahaha this will be quite cool and a long time coming lets just hope they keep it flexible with various routes to objectives. A mothership for example massive and should be made to feel that way

Stargate does indeed have a great potential for a game. You would get handed missions from the SGC and off you go. You could add an adventure element into it by having a log of gate addresses that you can dial, allowing adventures that span multiple planets without having to keep returning to the SGC.
    Other great ideas would be:

    * A mission where you get to fly a Tel'tak harboring a bomb for some purpose or another
    * A proper Zat'nikatel that disintegrates opponents on the third shot
    * Massive battles against Jaffa armies
    * Getting to board a Ha'tak (mothership)
    * Including various races/factions like Asgard, Tollan, Tok'ra, et cetera.
    * RPGesque elements such as a portable naquadah generator for when the DHD is busted on certain planets

What I would really hate to see is what was mentioned in that Half Life mod: a Goa'uld lobbing symbiotes at opponents. It makes no sense in terms of the show given how precious a symbiote is seen to be. It should stick to established continuity.

Has the potential to be damn good alright, I quite like Star Trek Voyager Elite Force, cool weapons and stayed true the show(of which I wasnt a fan)

Well its not exactly lobbing them like rounds from a rifle. Only a System Lord has them and he only has 3. They're almost like the go'auld equivalent of heat seeking grenades.

Btw don't judge the game on that alone. Its actually very very well done (for a crowd of people doing it in their spare time for free)

The zat-nikatel, Stargate, ring transport, Staff weapons etc all look and work very well.

I think people should try this game before actually buying a commercial game simply because this is probably alot better. Look at the complete utter flop the matrix game was and the most popular game in the World (counter-strike) was developed the same way as this one. By amateurs.

I actualy didn't know till just now but there is a Single Player Conversion under development as well. They have developed models for the Asgard, nox and many maps.
