This has been bothering me for a while.
Or since I first configured a mac to dial in using a connection script back in the day.

    When using PPP
    Why does the modem send

    ogin:username
    assword:password

What happens to the first letters?? Googled with no sucess.

I read somewhere years ago it was a generic script that allowed for different ISPs to use upper or lowercase L for login, and P for password. It makes sense, but I have no idea if that's the real reason.
