Just wondering if there is anything special I have to do. I have always had Nvidia cards. On my present PC, I had an MX440, went up to a TI4400, and I am expecting delivery of an Radeon 9800 PRO tomorrow. Is it enough to simply use XP to uninstall the Nvidia drivers, or do I have to start editing the registry and all that. Can anyone just give me the straight procedure.
What I would expect to do is; Uninstall Nvidia Drivers, turn off PC, take out TI4400, replace with 9800, turn on, install Radeon Drivers. Simple
Also, I presume I have to hook the card up to a power supply. Anyone any experience of this; is it fiddly, awkward, difficult?
    Regards,

WEll the card it self i dont think would be to much hasle removing and replacing.

i guess the ati one will be like the nvidia that it will just slot into your agp slot and presto, done.

about uninstalling drivers i read somewhere you can d/l nvidia detonator removers but maybe someone else can shed some more light on that.

all i can say is enjoy your new grafixcard
and becarefull handeling the cards, try keep your self grounded at all times by touching something that will earth you (metal parts of your case)
    best of luck

a simple uninstall and Nvidia drivers and install of ATI ones should be grand. I can't imagine you having serious problems with conflicts.

I've just had a horrible thought. The new card is AGP8, however I think my motherboard is AGP4. Am I right in believing that the card will just default to AGP4, or should I start looking for a big envelope to post it back?

Just did a quick search, and it looks like it will run at AGP 4 for the time being. Looks like a motherboard upgrade is next on the cards....

i dont think the card needs all the bandwidth that agp8 supplies i would say there isnt much differnce in the cards proformance on apg4
and connecting power to the card is very straight forward

Thanks for the replies, I'll let you know how I get on. (Finally I won't be ashamed of my 3DMark 2002 scores, hopefully)
