    Fibre Optic (TosLink) Splitter

would one of these (found on the peats website) degrade the sound quality from that of the source sound?
would be handy for using my cd-deck to record to a portalbe MD recorder and listen to the music at the same time trough my reciever

    anyone know?

For the purpose you will be using it for you will not notice any degrading of the sound, although officially if the signal is split or altered in any way then there will be some loss in quality. Minidiscs record in ATRAC format, which means the minidisc is only recording a fraction of the optical signal received. You will be fine using an optical splitter with minidisc.
