Eircom Net Virus

Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem, or better still, solved it?

We got a mail from support@eircom.net and it had a zip file in it so one of the lads in the house opened the file. Nothin happened .. but.. I seem to have been added to some sort of Workgroup? We're all worried that the virus was designed that someone can access the PC now..

Did anyone else come across this??

    Thanks for your help!

It's Bagle-J, a variant of Bagle, funnily enough.

Update your antivirus, and scan and disinfect.

Never, ever, ever, ever open an attachment if you're not expecting it. It's so simple....

Every time you connect to the net, this virus is sending out streams of copies of itself to people in your address book.

They're not from UTV/Eircom/IOL, it's just the virus spoofing the from address.
They're from people who've run the attachment.

Bagle and similar viruses generally forge the "From:" Field of the e-mail but if you look at the headers the correct IP address should still be there. It must have harvested your e-mail address off an infected PC somewhere along the way.

I also have a virus in my eircom.net account. There is 300 mails from a DAEMON-MAILER that my mail cannot be delivered to a certain address (all made up addresses) with an attchment on it. When I delete them all & go back into my inbox theres a fresh 300 mails again. I have deleted my account from outlook but still the mails are coming in. I've looked up my quarantine folder and theres W32.Erkez.B@mm in the attachments. Its not in my computer though, because I did a virus scan.

    It's fairly new...here
