New PC unstable

I just ordered and built a new PC for one of my mates, and its causing me loads of hassle.

    Specs are:
    Barton 2500+
512 Corsair Value select Ram 2700
    Abit Nf7-M
    Audigy 2
    MSI DVD-RW
    Q-TEC 350W PSU.

After I installed the OS and chipset drivers and booted to windows, problems began. Black lines start flickered across the screen randomly and it shuts down soon after, and arifacts are showing around the mouse. I checked the voltages and Temps and everthing is grand running at 27C/39C idle 32/44 load. I tried swapping the PSU for my one which is powering a much more powerful system, and the problem still remains, so it's not the PSU. I then added my GFX card, and it seemed alright, but soon displayed the same problem.

I thought it might be a conflict of the Audigy and the onboard sound, so I disabled the Onboard sound, the lines still appeared. I then uninstalled the Audigy and the drivers, and STILL the lines appeared.

I reformatted the drive again, and loaded up Win2k again, and the problem persisted.

Either I have a faulty MOBO, or RAM. I have read somewhere that the corsair Value RAM can be real dodgy, displaying some of the symtoms im getting.

Anyone have a clue whats going on?

try this for testing the ram. It works great for me.

Other than that, take everything out, and boot up with the absolute minimum cards inserted, and gradually add them in.

So, you got these lines with the onboard GF4, then added an AGP card and disabled the onboard VGA but the lines still appear?

Is the fan on the Northbridge working ok? An overheating NB could cause those problems, that's all I can think of, besides faulty ram.
Try running memtest to check the ram.

It was the RAM. I have it working fine on a stick of twinmos.
