92.1 Phantom FM - Dublin's Weekend Rock to return next Weekend!

DUBLIN - Phantom FM, the popular Dublin based modern rock radio station is to make a return to the FM waveband this weekend. The station, in association with The Village Venue and Whelans of Wexford Street, has secured a second Temporary Radio Licence from the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) allowing it to broadcast for 14 successive weekends over a three-month period. This follows a successful Temporary Radio Licence schedule undertaken in 2003. The return of Phantom FM, albeit on a temporary basis, will be welcomed by thousands of musically disenfranchised Dubliners in a city where a dedicated full-time specialist alternative rock service has so far been lacking.

An alternative rock programme schedule will be broadcast, consisting of Irish and international indie/alternative rock artists and including a heavy emphasis on emerging talent from the Irish scene, a sector under-represented on the play lists of the existing commercial stations. Live interviews and ‘in studio’ sessions will be a regular feature of programming that will be presented by enthusiastic and informed presenters.

Phantom FM will broadcast on a new frequency 92.1 MHz FM across Dublin city every weekend commencing on March 27th right through until the final broadcast in the series on June 27th, 2004. Programming will run each weekend from midnight Friday until midnight Sunday. Outside of these hours the station will continue to transmit via the web at www.phantomfm.com.

Congratu-friggin-lations, I know it must of been lots of hard work and hope that it's a needed and all too necessary step in the direction of being awarded a full-time broadcasting liscence. I'm pleased that I will have Phantom back on the weekends and will make sure that my pc's speakers are turned up nice and loud so I don't miss a song or a live word said!

Who's the new dj who was on this afternoon (sat) at about 3.00? He was playing some great music, but then proceeded to annoy me with his 'gouger on speed' DJ banter. Apparently The White Stripes are 'knackers' who 'owe us a gig you knackoorrrrsss!'. Anyway, 'twas nice driving around blasting out Radiohead/White Stripes without having to put in a tape. Big up yo'selves.

Phantom are off line right now nearly all day. Hope this will be fixed soon as us online listners need our daily Phantom fix. It like drugs its so addictive we need it everyday.
