Geforce FX 5900XT?

Right, I'm in the market for a new graphics card and while browsing through komplett.ie, I came across the Geforce FX 5900XT 128mb for €200. Now ideally I'd like the 256mb version of the Radeon 9800 XT but €500 does seem pretty damn extortionate (sp?). So I was just wondering if anyone has one of the above Geforce cards and can comment on it or if someone would like to suggest something along the lines of the above two cards? And one last thing, is komplett still the (relatively) cheapest? Or should I consider buying from abroad?
    Thanks.

the 5900XT is a underclocked version of the 5900

my advice is get the 9800pro lite reatail from jes-computers it's €220 and is a better card than the 5900XT

    what he said

though the 5900XT is a nice card all things considered but with the price of current 9800pro's you'd be mad to pay for the XT i think.

you can get a 9800 pro retail for 209 from jes-computer. lite retail costs the same.

Cool, thanks for the info, I might go get the 9800 pro. Is it the 256 or 128mb version? But aside from that, can someone throw up a link to jes-computers, I had a quick search but couldn't find anything. Are they an online or er..non-online company?

    i think it's the 128mb 256mb is overkill tbh

    www.jes-computer.de i think it is

    Hi all..

Bought a FX 5600 U some time ago, RUBBISH.
Grand when gaming alone, as soon as its under pressure it struggles.

    Ti4400 performs better ..
Only real advantage is the DX 9 features.. AA and Ansio.. make games look well..

Don't make my mistake.. Spend money on a good Graphics card..

Bought a 9800 Pro Lite for 199 on komplett, RocknRoll..

I mean the bigger the better right?

Basicly i doubt you'll see much if any performance increase from the extra 128mb Ram to warent the price increase.

Dont go with NVidia at the min they really fall down with DX9 games....... 9800pro is prob the card to have at the min but bear in mind a new wave of cores is just arround the corner prices could drop.

Hey guys, sorry to drag this one out but does it matter which manufacturer you buy from. eg, which would you go for, powercolor radeon 9800 pro or a sapphire radeon 9800 pro?

I don't think different manufacturers make a whole lot of difference. Although saying that, I did read somewhere that Powercolor don't like to be overclocked. I like Sapphire, but my 9700 pro was the first card I bought from them so I'm probably being biased. And another thing, is the 9800XT just a suped-up version of the 9800 pro to allow it to overclock a lot more than the 9800 pro? Looking at the specs, the XT and pro have very little diferent to eachother. There's only something like 15mhz more in the clock speed of the XT.

Anywho, thanks for the info lads, I'll probably go for the 9800 pro. Unless I find an extra €300 lying about...
Ps: anyone any idea as to when those new cores/cards are to be released? As in hence a drop in price of the predecessor cards..

i heard it will be april before they release new cards so a price drop won't happen then cause companies have already drop the price of the 9800pro in advanced.

well i'd be surprized if they dropped it anymore.

9800xt is just an officialy overclocked 9800pro. You can get near xt performance by overclocking your pro.

xt has has other little tweaks as well, and has on die thermal monitoring, so is also easier to overclock
