CRT Monitor for design/video work

OK in the continuing effort to upgrade my system, I'm thinking of replacing my cheapo 19" monitor for something decent in the region of 500 - 600 Euro. Also looking for a good video card with quality 2D performance for 400 quid or less.
Multi-monitor support would be a plus, but isn't essential.
Hardware support for Adobe Premier rendering would be a benefit but seems to only come with pricey analogue/digital capture cards. The Matrox RT.X10 looks promising though.
What would you recommend?
