Bit rates and over compression

I find that the digital bit rates are very low on a lot of ntl digital channels.
If there is any kind of fast action or a lot of movement the picture gets very blocky the film and sports channels are fine but look at bravo extreme sports ITV news to name a few.
I know NTL trys to squeez in as many channels as possable, but the cost is over compressed channels.
What are other members views would you rather have more channels or a better picture?

Well, cableguy, you must have some kind of super connection!!! :D The picture quality on my ntl (dublin 6 west area of templeogue), is absolutely awful ON ALL CHANNELS!!! Most of my channels are simply pixels. The worst are the BBC's UKTV's and the music channels, which are often unwatchable. As for the readings - em... not quite what my decoder is reporting.

    Tuner AGC: 65%
    SNR Estimate: 57dB.
Pre/post rs reading: often goes to -7.00+E05 for a second.

All my connections are tight and secure (secured with a pliers).
I think ntl is just generally rubbish in general :D:D:D

O wait, I'm not happy about that!!!

The problem with the pixelation is due to the fact that ntl still transmits analogue channels. Ridiculous as it may sound, over one third of ntl's total network capacity is taken up by the transmission of the 15 analogue channels alone!!! As you can see, they also have to cram down broadband signals, digital tv signals, and VoIP signals. So really the problem of poor bitrate's will not be resolved until ntl cease to transmit analogue. The same is with chorus. Because chorus' mmds system has such a limited capacity, it takes over half the bandwith to transmit 10 channels. So effectively, if analogue was gone, chorus could have over 100 digital channels, and ntl could have over 250.
