Having recently started reading these books i have some qs as a noobie.

    1. Is there an order to read them in ( i read Witches Abroad and luckily the next one was Lords and Ladies which mentioned they were following on from each other)?
This the Order i read my 6 in Eric, Equal Rites, Witches Abroad, Lords and Ladies, Carpe Jugulum and now on Soul Music.

    2. What is Granny Weatherwax she as hell aint no witch she whumps ass in most books i read so far (Head Wizard in Equal Rites, Elves in Lords and Ladies,Sister in WA, Vampires in Carpe) all mention vaguely about her bad side but in each wraps up that her family were not as bad as made out) But still the other witches are basicaly crap and weak but she got mega power?

    3. In Carpe there is a mention of "having to be 3 witches" but never explains why and wraps up without saying why?

    4. What is the luggage about other than a demonic device for wreaking massiv e havoc on anyone who goes near the wuss rincewind (who is called Rinceward in others books or is there 2 people?) Luggage?

I love these books hehehe Ballistic garlic sossie and what happened to that bat will live long in the memory :D

Try here for some guides as to what order you should read the books in.

Oh and welcome to the Discworld, best books ever.

I think Wyrd Sisters explains a little more about the witches and Granny, its meant to be the second book about the witches.

    The luggage is cool! :D

Absolutely!! :p Read The Light Fantastic and The Colour of Magic for some brilliant luggage humour!! It's the best character in those books!

    3. In Carpe there is a mention of "having to be 3 witches" but never explains why and wraps up without saying why?

Its a given with witches: to do with Hecate, Thead would be able to answer that better than me
    http://wicca.timerift.net/triple.html

Hecate was a triple goddess. She performed her magic at crossroads, where three ways meet.
As a result, the goddess of crossroads has three faces, one looking each way. The word trivial is a Roman word that refers to Hecate Tri Via (three ways). She is also represented as an equilateral triangle.

On another level, Hecate was the third stage in the life of the mother goddess. These three phases are represented by the moon. Crescent waxing, the beautiful virgin goddess. Full moon, the maid. And crescent waning, the old maid or crone. The word hag is a variant of Heka from Hecate.

    4. What is the luggage about other than a demonic device for wreaking massiv e havoc on anyone who goes near the wuss rincewind (who is called Rinceward in others books or is there 2 people?) Luggage?

Read The Colour Of Magic and The Light Fantastic (first two books) to get the background on The Luggage

Rincewind is always called Rincewind, sometimes you meet his corresponding version in other societys, like Rjinswand or Lavoleous (Rinser of winds).

To answer your second question Granny weatherwax is the witch among witches. She doesn't actually have all that much power though, she has headology.
