    Ok again strange one but sure why not i said !

    Remember the 2 part episode on ds9 , the way of the warrior?

    Ok fast foward to the second gulf war, America WMDs, dodgy reason for going to war goes with out major Allies backing (except UK Spain etc etc,) but mostly Allies in the Trans Alantic Alliance.

    Kinda like the Ds9 Eps where the Klingons were determined to invade Cardassia despite Fed objections
    i think its interesting Sisko says "theirs no Proof their founders" ie Cardassian Govt being overthrow by founders though their was no proof of it but Gowran and his administration were still going to have their invasion, one way or the other.

    I think Magick was saying that it was intresting, as for a long time the UFP was supposed to be the USA in space, the klingons being the aggressor/bad guys.

    and now with WOTW and GW2 we can link the klingons with USA/

    at least that is how it seems to me.

    You could also claim that all the races in Star Trek are based on existing races

    Cardassians=Brits {They had a big empire but lost it, hated by everyone

    Bajorans=Irish {Terrorists, poor, farmers

    Romulans=Communists { Secrecy and stealth

    Federation=EU / UN {Socialism, democracy and all that
    ( in ToS probablt meant to be USA, not a hope Gene)

    Klingons=Chinese (tos){when they were the bad guys
    / Americans (TNG onwards) {Allies of the Fed who use force for everything

    Borg and dominion just made up for the craic but now that I think of it the borg, well they're very democratic in a way but everyone is slaves to the crowd, there the most powerful military force and they want to make everybody else like them. Who would they remind you of.....;)

    Its possible to over examine every coincidence, the show is what it is, and its good.

    But with a rich cultural history. :)

    I'd hardly call it 'coincidence'; from the beginning Star Trek has reflected current events. It's not about 'claiming' the races in Trek are based on existing races, they *are* - at least, the main races from TOS were. The Federation has always represented the USA - maybe not so evident in DS9 or Voyager, but certainly in TOS, TNG, and Enterprise. If you're going to make any comparison between current events and Trek, look at this season of Enterprise. Attack on Earth of a scale never before seen, and then Archer heads out to find the, ahem, weapon of mass destruction and seems very ready to use violence in order to get to it...
