what Joe said. Both are damm fast cards with one better that the other in some tests and vice a versa.

Im just waiting for the Sapphire 9800XT 256mb Ultimite Edition (Zalman gfx silent fan) to hit Komplett at the end of the month :D

Ohh Zalman silent fan!, would go well with my Zalman 7000 Cu CPU heatsink.

Prices and links would be great too.

I am really looking for a silent card too.

i'd still go with the ati though if i had the choice at the moment i think.

venom will there not be a new graphics card out soon enough though instead of getting the ultimate edition you'd have the new R420 core or what ever it is.

    data

There is always better around the courner :)

The next gen cards will need next gen mobo's and the first of both will be very expensive and pretty crapy like the early P4 mobo's.

aye but around the corner now is close unlike it would have been back before xmas. also next gen graphics cards will still support agp and won't need the next generation m/b and i doubt they will be crap but will give a nice improvment over the XT.

On the subject of "Just around the corner", thought you might find this link interesting:

The 420 will be available for both AGP and PCIe, so no worries about motherboards if that's the path you want to take. To be honest, I'm more interested in the new chipsets (hopefully) driving down the price of the 9800XT...

I've been waiting for next-gen since September (6 months) when HL2 was postponed.
I cancelled my 9800XT plans and upgraded cpu/ram instead, best thing I ever did since all games still play great on my ti4200.
The NV45 should be a big leap from the 9800's and not just an overclocked NV38, so well worth waiting for.

Ti4200 is a sold card using one right now. Only have it about 6 months got it on the cheap will upgrade to 9800pro if the price is right.
