    Hi all...

I recently bought a NForce 2 400 U and I am having problems installing the Audigy 2 card. There is built in sound on the board and when you install the nvidia NF drivers the sound drivers are installed regardless if the sound has been enabled or disabled in the BIOS.. When I install the audigy card it has a exclamation mark over the card and when I try to update the driver I get 'access denied'. Anyone got a similar setup and having these issues? NForce Sound is a pain..:ninja:

Are you able to disable the nforce2's sound component from windows device manager?

nForce 2 boards always come with built in audio, because they are incompatible with so many sound cards, probably including yours. I would suggest that if you can return it in a cooling off or 30-day return period that you do, and either buy an external soundcard (eg. Audigy2 ZS USB) or one you are sure is compatible with your board.

The Sound has been disabled in the BIOS but the NF driver still install the sound components..

No, I wont return it, will work through the problem..

    No No....

The onboard sound is disabled, its the poxy drivers that are causing my issue.. Anyway.. May have a solution..

Extracted the files from the installer package, will install devices 1 by 1 in device manager, this wont install any sound software at all..

Its only when you run the installer package does it install the sound drivers, will install by mean of the inf files..

Stupid the way the drivers are installed even if the on board sound has been disabled.

yeah i didn't have that problem though for some reason, i didn't have to touch the device manager once the onboard was disabled ah well good luck with it anyway
