    Anybody see it?

I saw it... hmm, last wednesday in the Gaeity.

IMO, i thought it was five times better than the script.
Ye get a much better view of the comedy side of it.
    Brilliant acting aswell i thought.

Only thing that bothered me when I was watching it was the actual theatre.
    The foot room is unbearable:ninja:
    Seriously!

    but anyway,
anybody willing to share their views on the play?

Saw the play last week. Was very impressed with the acting. Murphy's performance was sincere and credibe IMO. Cant remember the name of the person who played Widow Quinn, but I thought that she put in the best performance.

Ya, but much of the talk these days, in light of the Druid production is if it actually is a good script....

BTW, I think Annemaire Duff played Widow Quinn.

Actually, whilst I do think Cillian Murphy is a fine actor, the more I see of him the more I feel he's holding back a little bit. I don't mean in terms of effort but his performances (mostly on film but even in the play) seem a little guarded to me.

I wasn't familiar with the script of the Playboy going to see it and was expecting a dark and bleak exposition of country life! I was surprised at how much humour there was in it or at least how much the production played it for laughs.

One of the best productions I've seen in an extremely long time. Most impressive.

I saw this at the Gaiety, i brought my parents, and totaly loved it. I never expected to luagh so much for one. As to whether the script or direction is the crux, we're hitting on an all timer here...
I'd say a playwright puts down sonething for use, like an invention, although an expressive one, hwich is then totally open for interpretation. A playwright I guess is someone who understands the nature of communication (that someone else can always go and misread or reinterpret what you're saying) without getting precious.
So I reckon congrats to the Druid gang above all, but also to Johnny boy, for leaving himself open so, and so well.
