I am no good with the inside of PC's but I opened mine up for the firt time in 2 years to clean all the dust out and when I was putting the casing back on I noticed that there was two cables not connected to anything, I might or might not have done it. I can't find anywhere they can connect to so I am not sure if they need to be connected. There is to pics of the photo's below just to show you the types. Are they supposed to be loose?

    Cheers.

BTW - I have no sound on my PC and I was told that my sound card could be lose, would that have anything to do with these cables?

neither of those two cables have anything to do with sound... first ones just a power connector afaik (looks like a floppy one but its not).. second one is just a spare IDE cable connector.. in case you want to add an extra cd-drive/hard-drive etc.

first looks like the connector for a sound card to a cd-rom drive. Not important.

The other is an IDE connector.
You have two IDE ports on which you can have two devices each (e.g. two hard drives and two cd devices).
You obviously don't have 4 IDE devices so you have spare connectors.

Don't plug anything into anything if your machine is working would probably be the best advice.

I have no sound on the PC so is it still not important? If it is where should it go because its very short and can't reach any connector.

well then it's probably just a spare power connector.
Seriously, just forget about it, if it ain't broke etc etc.

Neither of those connectors will affect the sound on your PC. The only connection that could affect your PC's sound would be a connection from a CD Drive to the Sound Card and this wouldn't cause a problem on a modern PC anyway.

Check in the device manager to see if your Sound Card is properly detected and has drivers installed. If the card is detected then more than likely it doesn't need to be reseated in the PCI slot. Check if it's properly seated.
