    Using cross over cable.
    1 laptop, 1 pc (broadband connection)
    xp home, xp pro
    used network wizard on both, Was able to ping pc, Net was working on laptop aswell and now its not, it did this last night too !

    On pc in network conections
    i have the Ethernet connection, IOL BROADBAND and the Modem.
    So i shared Ethernet connection, i am not sure if that worked but when i shared IOL it did work, now its not.

    Since youve got it I'd be interested to see your solution..

    I've seen situations like this being resolved by bridging the network connections.

    ie ->
    DSL modem/router has assigned an IP to the desktop for its connection.

    Desktop assigns a different IP to the laptop/other machine (ICS + DHCP)

    Then using XP to bridge the two networks on the Desktop generally solves.

    hey
    i had firewall installed on laptop and i think i uninstalled it and it didnt do it properly and had its Vector monitor on, so i installed it again and uninstalled it properly.
    Bridged on both machines and setup a firewall on the main machine, now its works great !
