OK, something strange going on here. Recently, the clock on my pc has started turning back to 22nd of October 2002 for no reason, and Ialways set it back to the proper time and then a few days later it switches back again. It was only mildly annoying, until now when things have gotten complicated. My mother jut told me she got some weird e-mails last night and decided to do the clever thing and open em up. She only caught on that something was going on after opening them and then deleted them all (five, in total). So now today, I connected to the net and a Norton AntiVirus box popped up saying the following:

    Outgoing Email

Norton AntiVirus is sending your email message

    Message 1 of 1

    (progress bar)

I thought this was more than a little bit strange, since when does Norton AntiVirus send email? So these boxes usually last about 8 seconds, then they dissapear. Occasionaly a box will pop up saying 'Norton AntiVirus was unable to send your email message because your mail server has rejected the message: 550 Email appears to contain a virus (#5.7.1)'

So I checked my mothers email inbox and she had a new mail from i think 'clanleider@hotmail.com' dated 22/10/2002 (see above; regarding clock), which i promptly got rid of.

One other thing my; my kazaa shared folder seems to have filled up full of files like 'sex sex sex' 'hardcore porn' 'max payne 2 crack' etc. etc.

I'm guessing this is some sort of virus (duh) but it doesnt seem to do much expect for causing un-closeable boxes to pop up every five seconds or so (which has made typing this post incredibly frustrating)...

    any help would be appreciated

p.s. i apologise for spelling mistakes and overall ignorance

Make sure you're AV software is fully up to date and run a complete scan of your machine, it sounds like it's riddled with viruses.
Also, try staying off the net as much as possible until whatever it is gets removed, sounds like the virus is just spreading itself while you're online.

Thats another thing, my subscription to Norton had run out ages ago, and i was too lazy to fix it up so i used to get messages saying 'your supscription has run out, yadda yadda yadda' every couple of days. and now, for some reason, NortonAV says that the subscription has been renewed and the virus definitions are up to date. Kinda strange...maybe the virus has ****ed around with Norton somehow, and running a scan would be pointless?...

You could try installing another AV program if you're in doubt.
AVG is pretty good (and free), you can get that from www.grisoft.com

I find spyware + addware an increasingly annoying source of sugar as well.
I'm hoping that virus scanners start looking for it soon.
In the meantime, try Spybot as well as AVG.

get rid of norton if you're not updating it.

Its a nasty one, but it worth the money to keep norton up to date......

    Its more annoying than vicious.
