AFAICR applications such as Musicmatch allow you to create recordings from what is playing on your desktop. Do you have Sky or NTL? If so you would get a better 'feed' (true stereo, better quality sound, no chance of the signal 'dropping')from these, and you could record via the line-in jack on your PC.

I actually just did this today, BBC radio one rock show.

    Heres what I used.

    AAA Real Recorder

Before you run Real Recorder, do this:

Go into your sound volume controls, then go into the options menu, and select properties. Then click the recording button and select "Stereo Mix" from the options below.

Then start Real Recorder, start the stream, and press the record button.

Pm if you have any problems, as there is a few you can run into.

Also, if you happen to have an Audigy 2, you can use the Creative Media Go! Player to record straight off the raw audio going through your sound card.

a freeware program [or demo?, can't remember] called SNAG IT can capture screenshots, sound, or video. [or combination]
think i got it from download.com.

    Audio stream recorder.

Creative have an application called Audio Stream Recorder(ASR) which allows you to program recordings from Internet radio stations for days or weeks in advance.
If you have a relatively modern Creative card which has the "What U Hear" input source the application should work fine albeit a bit clunkily.
The application comes on some of their CDs, but not all.
Application works with Realaudio and WMA streams.

have a look at replay radio

    i haven't tried it. i don;t have a pc.
but was impressed with the spec.

one thing to watch out for is if it supports the stations you want.
it does support RTE1 and all the bbc channels
