I have a Lexmark X75 all in one, cant complain cos it cost me €99 and its quality is grand for everyday use, bit steep on the ink side though and their is no cheap "own-brand" solution, ya gotta buy official lexmark ones

Well I could have made it a simple question but I decided to throw in the pole anyhow. Looks like HP are winning at the moment.
    Anyone suggest a particular model?
Are those All-in-one things any good?

The only major problem I've had with HP printers is with maximum print margins. I don't know about the new ones but the older printers didn't like having to fill most of the page.

Brother MFC 9880 - brilliant multi function printer, fax, copy, scan, laser printer and very easy on cartridges.

I just bought a HP PSC 1210 very good multifunction and cheaper on ink than comparable Epsons & Lexmark. Not too bad for €130.

Just bought a Canon i865. Haven't used it yet as I'm in the middle of building my 1st pc. It got very good reviews when I was researching printers. My old printer is a HP 810c. Quite a good printer but the ink cartridges for HP printers are way too expensive, anywhere between €30 and €50. My new printer comes with 6 separate ink cartridges which works out cheaper as you only buy the color you need and they're a lot cheaper. I'll let you know what it's like as soon as I have everything up and running.

I'm looking at the HP 5650 or the Epson C64. The epson uses the inividual cartridgeds but they cost about 25 each anyhow, black is 35. The HP is a bit dearer at 35 and 40 but its design means it will sit in my shelf a bit neater.
    Decisions, decisions :)

Does anyone know where to get bulk ink cheap (1 litre each color would be great) for an Epson Stylus C82? Been asking on another thread, but no replies.

Any recommendations for a good printer for about eur 150? Using my dad's at the moment.

    HP Deskjet 5150

VERDICT: Superb borderless photo printing, a decent turn of pace and all-round print quality help the 5150 to stand out from the crowd.

The 5150 successfully defends its A List crown this month, having wowed us in September. True, its looks aren't great, thanks to its light-blue and grey livery, and it feels rather plasticky too, but what do you expect for under £70? Certainly not top-class quality, which is where the 5150 keeps on surprising.

The fascia sports four buttons for power, paper feeding, ink replacement and job cancellation. We also like the flat input tray, which is sturdy and well designed, but the flimsy output tray needs removing when inserting sub-A4-sized paper. Beyond that, there's little to fault, although some may lament the absent parallel port.

Regular text approached laser-quality crispness but was delivered at only 3.1ppm. This shouldn't cause too much concern, as draft documents appeared at 10.9ppm at the expense of only minor feathering. The 5150 was also fastest in the Streetmap test, taking only 16 seconds to print a readable page, so it's ideal for people wanting hard copies quickly.

Our mono quality document was good, but grain was noticeable under close scrutiny. The solid black bar looked a little undersaturated too. Similar can be said of our presentation document (also on coated paper), although printing reverse text and coloured fonts caused no problems. Only the most fastidious of users will complain. What's more, a time of two minutes, 22 seconds was one of the fastest we saw. Only the expensive Canons were significantly quicker.

Our 6 x 4in photo appeared in two minutes, 21 seconds - no match for the fastest Canons but it beat the expensive Photosmart printers and Epson's R300. Skin tones were natural (if a little too neutral) and detail was excellent - the same was true for the mono equivalent: practically no grain was evident, although a little detail was missing in darker areas.

Our photomontage was one of the best on show, with skin tones impressing again and all detail being present. Our only qualm was a slight banding in the RGB fades (where we ask the printers to produce red, green and blue fades from 100 per cent to zero in a short distance), but transitions were fine. Its time of under six minutes wasn't too much slower than its HP brethren, although the best Canons raced away here.

The 5150 marks a sea change in printers. The fact that it uses exactly the same print cartridges, print heads and paper as its more expensive Photosmart relatives makes one wonder, why pay extra? While it's incompatible with the new 59 photo grey cartridge, only mono prints are noticeably affected by this. Beyond that, the single notable omission is direct printing, but that's hardly a disaster. This makes the 5150 an absolute steal: its speed is reasonable and its quality comparable to printers thrice its price. If you want a great-value all-rounder, buy it.

Well thanks for the replys. I got myself the HP 5650 on sunday. Nice printer. Think its a newer version of the 5150. Did a few test prints and it all looks good. Text fast and photos very clear.

    Thanks again.
