    Hey,

Most (if not all) DVD players will have an optical or coaxial digital output that can be connected to an amp. Whether or not the DVD player will support DTS is a different question but I think most ones that you can buy no do support it, or if not they would support Dolby Digital.

    ALBA 103
    Best home page ever

Is this the info your looking for.
    Features: Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS,
    DVD/CD/VCD playback, PAL/NTSC playback

Outputs: Analogue stereo x2, Composite video x2, S-Video, Digital coaxial, Digital optical, SCART, Headphones

The sound fares better; although there are no built-in 5.1 outs (to be expected at this price) it still delivers credible results via basic stereo and SCART. It also has digital outputs for those with suitable systems (though again, having an incredibly inexpensive player as the heart of a fairly expensive setup seems a bit perverse), and here it produces good results. The bass is maybe a bit lacking in power, but unless you’re trying to shake ornaments off the mantlepiece it’s perfectly acceptable. There’s even DTS compatibility thrown in, something almost unheard of in the sub-£200 price band.
If the Alba DVD-103 cost £200 or more, it would be lost among a clutter of superior machines.

Is it possible to get an adapter / splitter for a connection to allow 5.1 to be played through a stereo output connection??
