Right, my friend has a new Packard bell laptop and when ever he presses 'd', 'e', 'c' and '3' a string of keys come up like 'é;.,lk' when he presses 'd' along with a calculator.

This is really annoying and i cant find anything on the internet on how to stop this from happening.

Any ideas? Ive messed about with the function key and i cant find a solution.

    Cheers

have you tried uninstalling the keyboard and restarting? Just an idea perhaps the driver for it is screwy. What os is he running, if it's new i take it it's xp. If it's oldish perhaps 98, I remember I used to have that problem, removing and reinstalling the keyboard driver worked. If it's still having these problems and is new, just return it.

*edit* it helps if i read the first line, ignore the win98 thing :) */edit*

The 3,E,D & C keys are all in line, so it could be a physical problem with the keyboard.

It's not the driver. As Sir Random said, it's a hardware problem. You'll probably have to get a replacement, unless you want to lift the cover off and have a look, but that'll probably void the warranty.
