    Hi

I have one of the above cards but had to replace my digibox. Now the card does not seem to work on the new box.

Is there anything I can do to get it working again.

    Thanks
    Michael

What error message are you getting? Are ITV/C4/C5 all not working or is it just C4?

Worth leaving in for a few days to see what happens - the keys are changed regularly and were certainly changed recently. My card wasn't working when I popped it in last weekend, channels came back after about 3 days. Happily I was away for the weekend and wasn't going to be using the regular card in any case.

If you have not used the card in a while (anything from a couple of days to a few weeks) the card may have missed a signal from Sky. Fortunately the solution is simple. Leave the card in the box overnight (maybe 24hrs) and the channels should return. It doesn't matter if the box is in standby or on, once it is plugged in.

    Thanks everybody.

I will try the suggestions and see what happens.

    Thanks Again

Just a word to the wise - Watty's mentioned in the past (can't find his post) that not all transponders carry the software keys. This would be more useful to you if I could actually give you a list of the ones that do but leaving a shopping channel on for the next few days probably won't do any good.

(afaik it sets itself to the default transponder while in standby (which should carry the keys to you) but I'd like someone else to confirm this or correct me)

I believe Sky news carries the required keys.

Sky1, ITV etc certinally do to.

I think Sky News does, which is why EVEN viewing Sky news the "expiring card" message came up some while ago.

add in the freq for "G54" its an itv freq, and if that is viewable in other channels the rest will reappear in a few hours if card is left in digibox,

for some reason that channel is viewable, once card has been previously activated, but has missed a key, 10906 v 22.0 5/6

    Question with regard to keys

I have activated 2 UK FTV cards in the same box.

Is it possible that one or other will be disabled if not used in the box ?

No. but if not used they miss keys and stop working. In a running digibox (even in Standby) overnight usually "wakes them up" with fresh keys.

Sky *can* send a code to kill a card, but also the card has to receive fresh codes all the time (periodically) to be able to unlock the TV signal.

Obviously the exact detials are secret, but a lot is understood about how the Videoguard system works.

Some information is deliberately publicised to get operators to buy NDS's services (Newscorp / SSSL / NDS / Sky are a related group of companies)

    http://www.broadcastpapers.com/cable/NDSDigitalCableGuide401.htm

Some cable operators in USA use the Sky encryption scheme ( A "CAM" called a "pod" is available for USA cable boxes for Videoguard, but it neither works in a Satellite CI slot nor with the Satellite flavour of Videoguard, which is approx the same thing).

    Hi

I checked last night with the FTV card before I left it in. I am only getting the BBCs and not the ITV/C4/C5.

    Is this a problem

I have left the card in today on channel G54 as suggested.
