My old man wants to give me his 19" monitor :D but only if he can use his laptop as the output VDU from his PC.

Any easy way of doing this? My puny brain can't get around how to get power to the laptop screen without the harddrive kicking in....

Laptop is an IBM of some description (father is old and annoying to get info off on the phone) but I do know that it has a VGA output on it....

    Ideas?

I dont think this is possible, all VGA / DVI connectors on a laptop are output only, I have never came accross this so I may be wrong.

    Thanks joePC

Yes, but you need to buy a controller for it. These generally will set you back $200-$300 dollars depending on wheter you want to drive it from the PCI bus or plug it into you're existing graphics card. Take a look here if you're still interested, but most ppl that consider this just buy a desktop flatscreen. Although, with the Euro-Dollar going the way it is, this might start look like a good idea again.
