Have boadband downstairs, need to use it up stairs in laptop, i was told i just needed 1 network cable ? but friend says i need a hub either that or i use a cross over ?
LAptop is wifi intergrate, i could get a wifi card for pc, but my room is upstairs, there is no concrete but here the signals are dodgy.

    Thank you.
Upstairs room is around 15 feet away, if i run the cable around the kitchen.

You'll need a crossover cable, if you're not planning to get a hub.
