CD 800mb Not working, large AVI need to be put on CD

I bought a few 90min CD-Rs today to try and fit 713mb Files onto CD.

When I put them in and Loaded up Nero 6, I found that it said the Disc could only hold 700mb. I went on anyways to create the CD and it failed at the end. Just like when I tried to fit the 713mb file on to a 700mb Disc. It seems as if the system or CD-RW is not recognising that there is a 90min in the drive.

Is there anyway I can get it to read the 800mbs on the disc? My Cd burner is about 4 years old its a SONY one.

Also regraless of all that does any one know how to fit a 713 mb onto a disc anyways. I cant seem to use the overburn feature on Nero, I click it on and all but it seems to have no effect. Surly when I select the overburn on Nero while using a 90min disc it should fit the file?

Anyhelp on this would be great, PC Hard drive is running very low need to get a few of those size files off my Hard Drive.

    Thanks,
    Coz.

jsut try and burn the disc (with just a simulated burn) and see if it throws up any errors. If it doesn't, try a real burn.

You should be able to squeeze (just about) 715Mb onto an 700Mb CDR with overburning enabled in Nero. I've seen Nero fail to start an overburn session more than once but conversely I've overbunerd sucessfully onto both 700Mb and 850Mb CDR's. You may want to slow down the burn speed slightly if you do get it working.

well, if its a 90 minute CD, you can burn 800mb on it.

Just some useful info, 90 minute cd's are out of the specifications of the CD format, so, in order to succesfuly burn and use these 90 minute cd's, manufacturers just fool the drive into thinking its an 80min cd by writing on the cd that its only 80 mins long, but you can safely burn 90 minutes on em.

Yea ive tried all of the things above, and still no luck.. On the progress meter it says its 100 percent done, then it goes on to a 'Lead out' part, in which it then comes up 'Failed Writting at 4x (fastest me cd-r can go), and the error seems to be 'Illegal Mode for this track' :/

What I did last night 2 a few of the files is I cut them down using VirtualDub, so the files were under 680, and the burned on perfectly to the 700mb discs..

However this is not the most ideal and time efficient methode, and I would much prefere if I could just burn the full file onto the disc.

its probably the burner.. you should check to see if the drive can support
    overburning.

an interesting article (minus pics:dunno: ) on this drive..

but at these kinda prices you might consider a DVD burner..

its always possibly your burner just doesn;t support anything over 80mins. Oldish burners can't burn over about 82 minutes full stop.

Try getting a firmware upgrade, and see if that helps. Other than that, your screwed.
