im fairly new to the graphics card thing, and dont want to spend to much, what i need is some thing around the 100 euro mark, with good stability for games and a good tv out for playing my xvid/divx on my wide screen which is close to my pc ne way. what should i be looking for, my pc is gigabyte board w/ athlon xp 2000+ (1.67ghz) 512mb ram and 80gb hdd,

this question my seem stupid, but alot of the card ive seen say agp 8x, does this mean i need a 8x slot ??? because as far as i can see in my bios mine only goes up to 4x????? how big an issue is this???

all help will be gladly accepted
    Thank You

the card will run. but you won't be getting the most out of it (unless its a top of the range card, its nothing to worry about tbh)
the sapphire radeon 9600 seems to be the best option for your price range (well, a few quid more)

game wise how usefull would that card be?? examples call of duty, gta etc????

i'm only basing that on the recommendations that i've recieved, my 9600 should be arriving tomorrow...
gta shouldn't be a problem, my gf4mx runs both gta3 & vice city flawlessly.
i'll let you know what kind of framerates i get with cod.

    along with 3dmark 2001 & 2003 scores...

ATI radeon cards are generally slightly better for AMD based systems. I concur with tman you could get the powercolor 9600 on komplett.ie for €112 + del.

All AGP 8x cards will default to 4x if your agp slot doesnt support it. There isnt a massive diff between 4x and 8x performance despite what the naming implies.

Dont think I have found any problems - its always been perfect. Not used it much tho - just for the novelty value. I have an All In Wonder card with tv tuner so do things the other way around ;)

For €100, you might be better off checking the For Sale threads for a Ti4200/4400/4600 with TV/DVI out (€50-€100).
