    guys,

just wondering if anyone knows which drivers i should be using on my system. its a :

    1ghz athlon
    Geforce FX5600
    Red Hat 9.0

There's the IA32, IA64, AMD64 and BSD set of drivers. I've dredged through numerous forums but just cant seem to find a specific answer. I've no X-Windows at all, so any drivers i get will be gotten using wget command

    thanks in advance

    daz

Try using the XFree vesa drivers so as to have a GUI display while you download the proper display drivers from nvidia.

You should be able to run Xfree in 2D mode using the "nv" driver that is present.

I think rh9 xfree's 'nv' driver is too out of date for the fx5600,

Yes they're out of date for the whole FX series afaik, Xwindows doesnt work at all. Cheers guys, ia32 it is

The Vesa driver that comes with rh9 works well with XWindows. I have a Geforce FX5600 and i have had problems running any of the nvidia drivers except the 4963 release (last may) for some reason any newer drivers cause my screen to flicker every few seconds.
