lo just want to know what rate settings etc to use on net on 56k mod? and what are the commands to run timedemos and to show ure fps? and any commmands that improve fps with little sacrifice to image quality, oh and maybe some weapon binds

i'd use a rate of 3100 for a 56k modem, if you're playing on uk servers prehaps 2500-2800.

To run a timedemo type :
timedemo 1
map demo1.dm2

You can't show your fps in quake2 (like you can in Quake3) but you can do a timerefresh and it tells you what you're on the second you type it.
