CD Background Images

Does anyone know how CD background images are invoked? Like if you put in a CD and it mounts and on the CD Folder there is a backgound image, usually called background.tif (which is a hidden file). Is there the equivalent to a system .ini file that tells the OS where to find this hidden background.tif file? Thanks!
