    Hey,
am going to buy drums from Thomann.de as a present for a friend.
I am talking around 500euro mark,
Does anyone want to recommend a set of drums for me?
As i dont really know much.
Am looking for a good set that will last him a good while...
he has played a bit, but i suppose he would be classed as a beginner...

    thanks!

    Don't buy from Thomann.

I recently put in an order with them, and they didn't know how to use the security code on the back of my credit card to confirm ownership.

If you order from them, they will demand that you fax a copy of your card with signature over to them.

    As an anti-fraud measure.

They were unpleasant to deal with, lacked any degree of professionalism and I would have no confidence in them after this experience.

I cancelled my order and placed a new one with www.musicstorekoeln.de, who seem far more organised.

They even have a rep here in Ireland that you can call and place your order through.

Have used Thomann in the past through a friend, but it would seem of late their service has deteriorated to shockingly bad standards.

Hehe! Thats crazy! I've bought stuff off Thomann no bother, (and no need for faxes either!), yet when I emailed the Irish MusicStoreKoeln rep I never got any response, or from their main customer service. Crrrrazy I tells ya.

As for drums, Tama's basic "Rockstar" setups come in at about 1100 on Thomann, and they're what I'd recommend for a beginner-intermediate without much cash, dunno what to recommend for 500! Soz! :)

No customs charges, VAT is included. Shipping is €23 for anything and everything, I believe.,

38kg of amp from musicstore cost 80 euro to deliver. But a drum kit is oversized and will not be in one box so you could find youself spending money on sperate deliveries for hardware, kickdrum, toms, etc. why dont you phone them and find out.

there are no customs to pay when buying from inside the EU and VAT is included in the price you are given, so delivery is the only 'hidden' charge.

cheers for the info lads, I emailed them, so hopefully ill get a response.

Ive been workin hard to save up the pennies for a kit! and €625 aint too bad at all for an export kit!

    Fred.

Delivery is approx. €30 regardless of what you're ordering .... weight / size / no of cartons etc ..... So you're shipping costs for the Export should not be more than that ... ... No Customs charges either so you should end up paying about €650 for everything ...
