    from the bbc

    GAA mourns McAnallen death

Cormac McAnallen died on Tuesday morning
GAA was plunged into mourning with the sudden death of Tyrone county captain Cormac McAnallen on Tuesday morning.
It is believed that the 24-year-old Benburb-born player died at his home in the early hours.

McAnallen was a member of Tyrone's All-Ireland winning side last season when they defeated champions Armagh at Croke Park.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte had made McAnallen captain following the injury to Peter Canavan.

McAnallen won every honour in the sport of GAA from the schools' MacRory Cup right through to the final glory of being a vital cog in Tyrone's Sam Maguire-winning side last September.

Very sad to hear of such a young man taken from us in his prime. Our prayers must go out to his family and friends at this very sad time.
Mary Queen of the Gael, pray for him.

On News 2 they said he died of a rare viral infection of the heart - after a post-mortem.

It affects only 1 in 100,000 or 1,000,000.
