A: Is there going to be practise?
B: Is there going to be a target capable of stopping a 2214 with 40lbs behind it?
C: Is there anywhere decent to eat near the place?

    Regards

A: We haven't yet come to a conclusion about practicing on spare butts. In my opinion it gives the second group an unfair advantage but if the majority (Dublin and the rest) are in favour of it and it's ok with Tony, then we should have enough butts to do it. I'd welcome some other opinions on the matter.

B: We'll have some softboard and some straw butts. In my experience the newer softboard butts are fairly good, we can try and get anyone with a higher poundage a better butt on the day if we're told in time.

C: Yes, there's a spar with a deli and the works just outside the sports hall

Also, for anyone who's intersted, Dublin Archers are having a shoot on the Sunday in DCU as well. Sinead is offering any student who competes on Saturday a reduced entry fee (€7) for the Sunday. Thats €14 for two days. And since the Sunday is a full FITA 18 (ie 120 arrows) its not bad value.

Hope that answers your questions Ewan

i dont see the problem in having a practise target (hey if it shuts up ewan! )

ballymun tech have the narkiest spar ladies, they dont even have soft rolls, tut tut tut

    poing!

    *ahem* Ballymun Tech?

DCU Spar is fine. There's a Eurospar about 5/10 minutes away, a Centra, and a chipper.

If you're interested in the second day get your name in fast as it's almost entirely booked up.

Ugh... I'll be the first to admit that that was not good, not good at all.

Apologies to any who attended and weren't from DIT. (It's not fair to apologise to people who score scores like that.)

Book the entire hall. Or next time anyone who makes noise gets speared.

Easy for you to say, you're not trying to make a few euro out of the IV. Anyway, a man of your considerable ability and experience should be able to block distractions out. :p

I am, but if one of my arrows, a sharp-pointed 2214 with 40lbs behind it had hit that green netting at the side, it would have gone through it and retained a considerable amount of its more lethal ballistic properties. And we would be minus one indoor footballer.

From a safety point of view it wasnt really the best at all, the noise was just an inconvenience.

Well, in fairness now, who'd miss one or two indoor footballers and four volleyball teams?? what do they contribute to society either way???

As for the set-up of the whole thing, the whole piss-up in a brewery cliché comes to mind.

look forward to seeing you all again in galway.... We managed to swing an extra 3 hrs a week for training :D

    Like ye need it...

"piss-up in a brewery cliché"? Enlighten me...

Set up will be better next year. Volleyball was booked in before the halls were booked by us. There was nothing we could do about it.

ah c'mon podge, surely u've heard of the expression "you wouldnt organise a piss-up in a brewery"

u'll find that most ppl have.

neways, i suppose all's well that ends well. the shoot came through with lives unscathed.... i was worried ewan was goin 2 go ape 4 a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 743 ✭✭✭Renegade_Archer

I only go ape as a means to get things done or to change things to my advantage.. going ape wouldnt have made the hall bigger or the volleyball girls quieter, so I remained in non-ape mode.

We could've all gone "ape" and "taken care of" the volleyball girls.
