I wrote a thread a few weeks ago explaining that Chorus would be introducing Sky sports Xtra, the rest of the movie channels, five bbc channels and some radio channels into their lineup. This was in line with a letter i received.I honestly didn't think they had the bandwidth for it. I thought that I would wait and see what happened.
Well they have now introduced sky sports Xtra, five radio channels, the rest of the movie channels( the movie channels i'm not subscribed to but they have introduced them). They did this by removing PPV movie channels.
Can somebody please tell me how many ppv movie they had cause i cant remember. They have added eight normal tv channels instead.
Remember they have to add five bbc channels into the lineup. ha ha. Can they do it. lets wait and see. Will they remove some other channels...

i have MMDS digital with chorus of which i'm very pleased with. i'v had no problems with it and the lineup is very good. It has no interactive stuff but who needs it.
It has teletext: NTL does not
Sky Sports Xtra: NTL Does not
Way more Channel than NTL MMDS

i live in Limerick City and have mmds. Don't know why i don't have normal cable digital. Does anybody have Chorus Cable digital(not mmds digital).

they wont need 5 seperate channels as BBC3, BBC4, CBBC and CBeebies all share 2 channels

Wouldn't be too sure about Chorus doing that Mossy, they all have seperate spaces in the EPG on ntl Digital.

as far as i can see from the leaflet that chorus sent i think the cbbc etc operate til 7 then bbc3 takes over probably on the same channel because of spacing problems on the mmds system .as for chorus digital cable i dont think it exists at least not in the midlands if you live in cable area here and want digital they will insist on sticking an mmds aerial on your roof as the cable hasnt been upgraded nor is it ever likely to be with all the money problems they have . dont forget they could be gone out of business soon if the receiver cant help them.
if there is digital cable then someone can correct me.
as for quality have to admit is is fairly good if you get the new third generation boxes.

Like on Sky (where they have different EPG slots) they can still share the same frequency on Chorus with different EPG slots if they like.

As far as I know Chorus are not in recievership but examinership which is completly different. By May all their past debts will be paid off and Chorus will be a far better company with a lot of money to invest in their communication infrastructure. In the not to distant future I have heard all places will be cabled for TV/BROADBAND.

I have Chorus Cable digital(not mmds digital) and I'm in Swords Co.Dublin.We're missing about 15stations to what ye get down the country cause the signal is not strong enough. We're on Phase 1 and their currently working on a upgrade of the lines which will be Phase 2.I rang them about the extra stations and we'll be able to get the new BBC stations and Sky Sports Xtra but we will not get the extra Movies
stations cause for the moment the signal is not strong enough.

I'd just like to clarify that NTL DOES have teletext, Lurking Icon. You can get teletext on a number of channels (mostly only rte, bbc, mtv1,) as long as your STB is running software version v5.37 or higher. The teletext through chorus is pretty slow, whereas ntl is super fast (unlike the bloody software - it takes about 10 seconds to change the damn channel!!!)

Unfortunately ntl do not have sky sports xtra, but who cares - their service is so crap it wouldn't support it.

BTW. Is the Sky Sports Xtra on chorus got interactive? "Like", when you switch onto the channel, what do you see on the screen?

Sorry - I wish to clarify my post. I was correcting jimbob on NTL NOT lurking icon (haven't a clue where I got that from).

    Apologies.

Sky Sports Xtra shows regular programming like the rest so should be renamed Sky Sports 4 because basically that's all it is. the interactive services are spread out amongst all Sky Sports channels these days
