Netgear FA311 w/ RH9

    Has anybody else had hassle with this card on Red Hat 9. In the startup output i get:

    Bringing up eth0: [OK]
    Starting system logger: [OK]

    Then the system gets into an endless PCI error loop. Am i better off getting a different card as google tells me there's a lot of people who've had difficulties with this card.

    I was thinking of one of the D-Link cards as some of these are based on the VIA rhine chipset which caused no problem in my other mb

    I gave up on my 311 could never get it to work with SuSE either.

    try out these drivers
    they look old but might work if you compiled the driver on your machine

    I swapped it for a USR NIC today. Has anyone else had hassle with SSH connections - the box seems to keep dying which is a right pain in the ass because i can't plug in a k/b or monitor without actually tearing the PC to pieces (it's fitted in an old Compaq prolinea case so the ports aren't accessible)
