Unfortunately not. I have seen it a few times on trips to the US and I would certainly welcome it on the Sky platform.

Yeah, many people wanted to have TechTV after the demise of [.tv]

I had emailed Techtv about a year ago, and they said that they were interested in broadcastign in Europe, but nothing much has come of it. Shame :(

Check out their website for full schedules.

From the shows I have seen they have lots of information on new PC technologies & gadgets. They also do shows where guys give lessons on stuff like digital photo editing. They also have phone in shows where the public ring up with their PC problems and they have experts to answer them. The style of the presenters is very easy-going. They are also not afraid to give advice on "dodgy" things like copying DVDs or downloading mp3s. I like the way the presenters say we are not allowed to tell you how to copy DVDs but you should check out this software and these websites :D

I should have thought of that! :D

Quote from the website: "Top 10 Windows hacks and how to make ice-cream with liquid nitrogen". Can't wait.

Give us the rundown on what you think of it when you get it! I think some European channels have TechTV programming. TangoTV on Astra 1 for one seems to have teh odd TechTV programme (when they close, there is a TechTV logo on the testscreen with other logos), though it's probably dubbed in German.

Right, I've had a few days watching it and it's actually quite good.

Think of it as a cross between David Letterman, CNN and Tomorrow's World. Not a nerd or geek in sight. The presenters are all fairly trendy, grunge-type dudes (and dude-ettes). A lot of the shows have studio audiences (hence the David Letterman type wit). The material is fairly topical - the other night it had details on how to get a 4Mb microdrive for $200 by cannibalising a Creative Labs mp3 player (to buy the drive on it's own is $500).

Last night on one show, they had a cooking piece. Quite nice, except the aim of the dishes being cooked was, quote , "to impress the ckicks and get me laid". Not strictly technology, but certainly catering for the target audience.

There is also the obligatory hardware/software/game type reviews. The interesting thing is that these shows don't seem to be too tightly scripted. The presenters do seem to play with the gadgets/hardware/software/games themselves and seem to speak with some authority on the subject matter.

    So far, so good.

It is down there, alright, but not quite down there with Sky One type shows.
