The hygeine thing is a myth. It really doesn't make a difference.

I had mine removed last year (there is a post about it) because it was too tight. Quite common apparently.
I had to stay in hospital for two nights and had the op done on the first morning. The procedure is fairly straightforward by all accounts, the guy that did mine did about 8 that day.

There was some pain for a few days, you'll really need to wear loose clothes and not do anything too strenuous (sp?) Take a load of baths as that seems to help with the stitches. After about a week or two you should be right as rain.

Erections are quite painful alright but nothing unmanageable and that only lasts a few days. Get a load of painkillers before you leave the hospital and you'll be fine.

It's not painful, it's uncomfortable. Except when you rub off anything for quite a while afterwards. Then it hurts like fuck.

If you're not too young to remember it, then just don't do it. Hygiene has nothing to do with it, just look after yourself. The whole thing started through religion (and certainly not Catholic), you're fine the way you are.
