Quake III 1.27 patch? crap or defacto?

    ok we have tried the 1.27 patch down here in UL and have found a few problems with it

    1. Pro's
    better net code
    less buggy

    2. Con's
    where the fúck is the underfloor splash damage
    wtf is with the ppl bobbing left and right, stop it that was q1 leave it there

    are many servers being upgraded to this? barrysworld for example?

    they're not upgrading yet, but i'd say as soon as the new osp comes out they'll all upgrade, after christmas or whatever

    I think 1.27 will get used as the movement is the same as 1.17.

    There are loads of bug fixes done...so the readme says....(yes I was bored)

    But the main things I noticed are...
    It seems as though something about physics and movement has changed slightly. It's better though, it feels like 117 but more responsive.
    The thru the floor thing is gone, thank Christ.
    You can't play demos.
    Single Player mode no longer requires CD.
    Single Player mode doesn't seem to be working right, if you restart some arenas, it adds all the bots again, so you have twice as many, it also doesn't set the timelimit or fraglimit properly. It will stay on what ever it was before you started in many levels.
    Falling off edges after you spawn at start no longer happens.
    The sounds are all different.
    When you get quad and fire plasma, the quad sound starts low and gets louder and louder until your ears pop and you decide not to fire it again.
    The bots are more intelligent (yeah right).
    The models look like they are dancing because they sway when they move.
    You can change the face of the player model to any face you want....how nice.
    When you kill someone, the points scored, float out of their body (another useful addition).

    So despite all the fixes and additions, it is nothing great. They need to get another fix out quick especially for the demo playing.

    In summary the only good things to come out of it are the through the floor damage, the falling off edge after respawn, and the more responsive physics.
