cd player skipping

    I have a 5 yo sony hi fi and the cd player has started skipping. Have tried a lens cleaner and cleaning the cds but no change. Anybody got any advice on how to clear the problem up before I try getting it fixed in a sony centre?

    is it just one cd skipping or is it all cd's?

    Just wondering if you've got a problem with copy protected CD's.....

    all cds, new, old and copies. Only just started happening since wednesday. Bummer, really like the hifi, mini disk, tape deck, cd player and tuner, nice and neat. Never had any problems with any of it previously, in fact the only complaint I'd have is it don't play mp3's but it is a few years old, (but not old enough to warrent getting a new one). Guess I'll just have to pay to get it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing.
