NSC want motorcycle training courses launched
    26/02/2004 - 3:47:00 pm

Motorcyclists have been urged to undergo a proper training course before taking to the road.

The National Safety Council has said it is extremely concerned about the high level of fatalities among motorcyclists.

The NSC has launched a booklet alerting bikers to the dangers of being on the road. It has said 80% of motorcycle riders have never had formal training.

that can only prove to be a good idea...

If it did nothing else it would teach the morons that think theyre invincible that if they overtake on a corner, theyre probably going to die.

Bring on an Irish version of the CBT

It's a pdf but I had to zip it to put it into boards' webspace

There's some good info in there, acting on that info while on the road is a different story. I don't think an education programme for bikers will change the road accident stats. As far as I can see the reason behind them is the cost of car insurance, the traffic and the irish demographic combined.
