Reception of BBC/UTV/CH5 is very poor in Gorey.
Aerial is quite hign and seems to be a bog standard type. Will a high gain type improve reception and if so, anyone know wheres the best place to buy or get someone to fit one?

TV3 has ghosting is this normal?

Reception of BBC/UTV/CH5 is very poor in Gorey.

I take it you mean lately (i.e. used to be better)
By the sound of it maybe thres some damage to your existing aerial/downlead cable/masthead amp

Any signs of storm damage (missing or bent elements) on the aerial
Maybe water has got into the booster (masthead amp) or the download cable or maybe a connection has come loose somewhere

A "high gain" aerial will always give some improvment over a "bog standard" but try and rule out any of the above first

The only way to find out if this is normal is to check with other people in your area but id hazard a guess that what is happening is that youre getting RTE1/2/TG4 from the Gorey Relay but your TV3 is coming from Mt Leinster and as your aerial is pointing at the Gorey TX you are getting a very poor TV3 signal and need a seperate aerial for it (AFIK TV3 isint carried on the Gorey relay)

If you feel up to the job you can always replace the aerials yourself. If you cant find what you want locally try mail order from Maplin or Farnell

The other possibility is that youre getting co-channel interference from Truskmore (Sligo) which can affect HTV and BBC2 from Llanddona. If so a better aerial will help but probably wont completly elliminate the interference
