Does anyone have Sky+ and a Mirror Subscription ?
What is the cost per month for the full package (moves + sports etc) ?

Currently have 2 boxes ; one is a mirror sub. Thinking of buying Sky+ but would like to have the mirror sub also.

All of this begs the question why Sky haven't got a decent Irish website with prices and FAQ....

This Guy is handy for information.

The extra sub is going to cost you €15 a month on top of your full package which I think is now around €60 (but maybe less, others her will say) a month.

Still though you will be paying €1000 a year to Sky for TV.

It's a lot of money just for watching television.

That link does not seem to work:-) Mirror sub costs 15€ a month when used in the same house as a sky + with both connected to the same phoneline, you could also connect a digibox or FTA box to 4th output on quad lnb to watch BBC channels.

I agree sky should have a dedicated site for Ireland but it seems they are incapable of make small efforts to make life easier for both consumers and retailers.

    thanks for the replies.

fortunately I already have a triax active splitter and have a couple of FTA boxes already set up in the house. I will just need to get the 2nd feed to where the Sky+ box will be located - should be easy enough as I've got one feed in each room already.

Yup. A lot of money for the year. 12 x €75 / 12 x €60. The 2nd box is great for the kids though.
But.... we don't go to the cinema and if I went to half the footie matches I'd spend a lot more.
With Sky+ though I could record a bunch of their favourite shows and maybe use a video-sender or some sort of solution like that... they're only allowed watch about an hour of TV a day and we're pretty strict about what they do get to watch... having a separate TV in their playroom with Sky is really handy though. maybe sky+ and a video sender is the way to go.

Will probably kill the movie channels though... dvdrentals.ie is working out more popular than Sky at the moment.

it's a real pity that Sky haven't copped on to the need to have some sort of online presence in Ireland.

    thanks again for the replies.

I guess you dont need the quad lnb so try getting a discount on the sky +

I guess a self-install would be the best route ? Just buy the box & sub ?
I can run the cabling myself... and can follow setup instructions... but will it be any cheaper ?

well sure, right away you have saved €75-100 on the install and more if you can get a discount for not using quad lnb.

I will be getting Sky+ in the next few weeks (as Tony knows!!) and will possibly be getting a mirror subscription

Queston is do I have to use the box I am currently subscribing on for the mirror sub(it still has 7 months on the contract) or can I use any box for the mirror, asuming it is connected to the same line?

Off the point slightly, are the new Panasonic TU DSB 50 boxes any better than the current 40 model?

I might treat myself to one for my FTV card assuming I use the current box for the mirror

    easy as this :
    had the cables ready.
    box arrived as promised.
    plugged everything in.

took card from 'main' subscription digibox and put it in the shiny new sky+ box
called sky and the nice scottish lady married the card to the box and then activated sky+
plugged in the 'old' main digibox and put the mirror-sub card in it, nice scottish lady married card to that box
within 2 minutes all was working and functioning.

    even the wife is impressed

another satisfied customer (I'm gonna experiment with my UK FTV card to see if I can schedule a BBC3/4 or a Ch4 show....)

Shabbyrod, did you order the card for the mirror sub in advance of installing the Sky+ box? If so can you just run through the procedure-will i order the card for a mirror now for my old box before I get the Sky+ box?

Edit: sorry, just re-read your original post DOH

I already had the mirror sub setup but really it's straightforward enough if you decide to order your mirror-sub card now.
When it arrives you can activate it by marrying it to the old box you're replacing with your Sky+ box. (presuming of course you've got all the cabling setup from the LNB and of course the 'phone connections). When you call to activate the Sky+ box the mirror-sub can be activated too.
