A few years now since I've fished it. It has some nice (old stock) stockies in there and always the possibility of some biggies. There are some nice big pike in there too. Had a beautiful battle with a big pike there one evening. Never got it to shore though:mad: 6lb line and no wire trace:(

Licensed by the ESB or get a day license in the last little newsagent (left) on the way out of Blessington from Dublin. (Mind you all that may have changed in the last few years.)

Not much fising done over the last few years (Was out of the country for a few of those) but I hope to get back into it this year. I usually fish the lakes. Lough Ennell, Lough Owel, Blessington and the odd day out piking in Cavan.

The odd evening on the Dodder or the Dargle can be fun also.

ye i usuailly get to ennell,sheelin often enough and the west from time to time. i passed owel hundreds but neve got out on it.
is the dodder and the dargle in dublin or outside of dublin? they sound familiar!

The Dodder runs from Templeogue(ish) to Ringsend & the Dargle is in Bray/Wicklow.

what hatches of fly did poulophoca get? any mayfly,sedge,peter etc

Flys on Pollaphuca tend to be duckfly, sedges & buzzers.

If you are big on the fly you should also check out Bohernabreena resevoirs. A dodder permit will cover you there also as it feeds the river. The resevoirs are fly only.

ye the sedges and buzzers would get the good trout moving on a calm summers evening!

Kilbride Anglers club are on Poulaphoca, cal69 was right about the flys etc, its a huge lake with lovely pike in it and some very nice trout, i have been a member of Kilbride now since i was 10, its a good club and they have boats on Ennell and Owel amongst others, 200 waiting list though . Personally, i prefer to fish Owel than Ennell, scenery is better.

i was never on owel but have passed it loads of times,
better fishing on owel with the stockeys but ennell is in my opinion the hardest lake in ireland to get trout out off.
have you had much success on ennell yourself empirix?
