I was wondering where I can buy proper materials for soundproofing?

Do soundproofing mats actually work(there made out of rubber, right?) Have wanted to use egg cartons, but not very convienient, space wise.

    Anybody got any ideas???

    Thanks

What age / construction is the house and what noise do you want to block?

actually, when I think about it, all I really need is to soundproof my bedroom. Btw, my house is about 25yrs old and semi-detached.

Do you want to exclude noise or keep in in? ;)

    200mm rockwool in the attic.

Carpet floor or if solid, make sure there is a resilient layer.

Double glaze windows / add window seals (leave some ventilation).

150mm drylining with double slabed plaster board with rockwoll to walls.
