Jesus im sitting here now with no cable telly, thank god i have satellite, but i rang this morning because my mother doesnt to report a fault, so the usual rigmaroll, name addy account number

After that i was told that theyd have no reports of any faults in your area, they said go round to the neighbours, if theres is also gone get them to ring in, which i duly did and stood there while they did it

So i get back on to them, told them the story told them the neighbours rang in, only then to be told sorry we still have no reports of any fault in your area

I lost the rag, i said you should have at least 11 reports already as ive just gone round to my neighbours and asked them to ring in, he said they havent, i said they did, so he told me hed book an engineer to come out but it would take 24 to 48 hours to do so

Christ I thought eircom were bad, but these shower of **** really take the biscuit

Drones i ****ing really and truly hate them

    Shin

    1 question though

Surely be to god all they have to do is look at the viewmount area and see theres no signal going through rather then asking a paying customer to go round to the neighbours and asking them to ring in and report the fault as well, seems a bit Oirish to me

    24 to 48 hours?
When I had an outage last year I was told 8-9 working days.

I won't start my little story about NTL, or l'll run out of keyboards from all the typing !!!, but the story ends with me ringing them on speaker-phone and me smashing up their digital box with sledge hammer while laughing at the c*nts on the other end

    They didn't like that,

    Shower of B@stards.

I hope their penis's all fall off .

NTL was gone for me this morning as well. I was also told 24-48 hours. They called me back on my mobile a half an hour later and said they had fixed it and to check my TV. Coverage was back.

Check your TV shinzon it is probably back. There was a short outage in Dublin today.

Just for the record NTL are the only company that have managed to completely fúck me about in two completely different countries.... They really are a complete shower of cnuts

Not your week is it shin????

Somebody is definitely pishing on me from a height this week, oh well an update if you could call it that

so what i had all day today was

telly back, telly gone, telly back, telly gone, telly back, telly gone, telly back. When they eventually decided that there was a fault after all GRRRRRR

So my mother didnt have a full NTL service since 8AM this morning, finally came back fully as far as i know at about 9PM this evening :(

What galls me about this is, youd except one breakdown every now and then ,but it was the flaming same bloody thing last weekend as well, in fairness though they did have it back quicker that time then this

Dunno what the hell is going on with the cable out my way but I was lovingly hugging my satellite remote endlessly today, what a beautiful thing sky is

Ah but a ray of light shone on this day, I did manage to get X2 the threat after all lol

Is the language used in the thread header really necessary?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭secret_squirrel

You've obviously never had any dealing with that shower Brian.

Oh by I dont know if anyone has seen www.nthellworld.co.uk its their semi - official user site (not run by them)..not quite as flamey as the site name makes out unfortunately :(

Pay no attention whatsoever to BrianD. He seems to love defending NTL. Obviously, he doesn't have any NTL service. Anyway BrianD - this is Ireland. GET F*****G used to it.

In fairness, I also have to object to the langauge used in this thread. Please remember that this is an open forum which Under-18s may have access to. As such, all posts must be fit for family viewing.

If the language isn't toned down in future posts and replaced with reasoned argument, then I will have to consider taking action.

PK as it happens I used to be an NTL customer and have discontinued my subscription at my new address. The main reason being the inconvenience of waiting in for a "2 man crew with a long ladder" (their words not mine). Prior to that, I had their analogue service which suited my needs and I must say had no complaint whatsoever with one exception.

I have been at the brunt of their customer service last year when they disconnected me for no reason what so ever. It took over 4 weeks for me to get connected including mush time wasted on e-mails and phone calls. I am sure there is an old post about it on the board somewhere. I have found that threat of complaining to ComReg gets an almost immediate reaction.

I do find that may of the issues posted here about Chorus and NTL are pretty flimsy. Even the language used in this forum suggests that the issue or arguement is weak. No, PK I don't have to get used to it but you will have to get used to being pulled up on weak arguements that are nothing more than a rant.

BTW, I am no prude but the language used in this thread is appaling. Do you think that any minors or female browsers want to see the C-word ...

quite right calibos i would be into ioffl like a shot, but because the cable is so crap out here, the likelihood of me getting BB off them is virtually nil unless they start connecting people over the man fibre rings

oh and as for the language used in this thread, i stand by that 100 percent, I dont believe people to be easily as offended as you think these days

    But thats just me

    Shin

Your belief is incorrect and there is no neccessity for it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,357 ✭✭✭secret_squirrel

Says you Brian..to reiterate I have been a victim of NThell on numerous occasions and IMO they deserve every insult aimed at them...in deference to icdg I wont repeat them again. And since when has including a few swear words in a complaint about poor customer service been a sign of a weak arguement..when infact the strength of the reaction shows what a real issue it is. Or are you quite happy to pay for a below par service without complaint?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,221 ✭✭✭BrianD

The use of expletives does not indicate the strength of your arguement it just demonstrates that you are inarticulate. This is a community forum and you should be apologising for your use of various expletives to the forum and not just "in deferance" to the moderator.

In practical terms, any customer service operator will hang up on you as soon as you use an expletive. Therefore, using such language will hardly advance your complaint towards a remedy. Your choice of words has led to a situation where there has been no meaningful debate about the key issue, customer service, that you wish to make.

Can not see where you get the link between objecting to your choice of words and being "happy to pay for a below par service without complaint"!

Brian, I agree that it shouldn't be in the title, but have you even reported the thread if it offends you?

Actually I disagree to an extent, apart from the fact that no-one here has advocated swearing at customer services staff, any member of those kind of staff should have been trained in a technique called 'Venting' where by the customer is allowed to let off steam in order to calm them down sufficently to establish the cause of the problem. Its poor training of staff that causes half the muppetry in the first place.

Hows this for a practical solution? The next person to actually talk to someone with good customer service skills at NTL post the name of the agent here for future reference. Good customer service should be rewarded after all. Hell I'll even post a thank you email template that ppl could use.

Actually I think its your (off topic) fixation with the language in this thread that has killed any chance of meaniful debate. I standby what I said - I will happily defer to a mods wishes thats part of the reason they are there for after all. However I dont give a damn if my posts offend a normal reader - as long as they are a accurate reflection of my emotions on a topic rather than just trolling. Its a good way to indicate my strength of feeling - regardless of whether they are thought of as 'inarticulate' or not. - To paraphrase 'if mine posts offend thine eyes...then pluck them out.'

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,221 ✭✭✭BrianD

My friend, the only person to bring the debate off topic is your use of unacceptable language. Read all the posts with such language and you'll hardly find them thought provoking.

In relation to customer service operators, there is no way that the use of such language could come within the realm of "venting". Do you think a female operator should tolerate any customer who calls her and her company "a bunch of c***s" or that she should "get f***ing used to it". Absolutely not! Terminate the call and allow the customer enough time to vent themselves before they call back and present their issue to be addressed in plain English. Anyway, why would something so trivial as a CATV problem warrant another person being verbally abused in such a way?

I have not reported the thread nor do I intend to. The moderator is already aware of it.

I really wish that people would stop trying to be so bloody politically correct.

Nobody is truly offended by the use of a word that isnt directed at them, they just think it to be inappropriate. I personally think that every word has its place but maybe this isnt the time for this one, but at the same time I would not berate someone for their choice of words. It is actually one of the few expletives that has any power behind it these days, and even then I dont think that a child reading the word will be in any way affected. The kid will only have learnt a new word. Then they have to learn when it's appropriate to use it, which is the fun part.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,221 ✭✭✭BrianD

    Fluffer

I am not trying to be politically correct.

People are offended by the word in question and a person deservesto be berated for using it and should expect a phone call to a customer service agent to be abruptly terminated.

I find it offensive. So does BrianD. It shows a certain lack of intelligence when you're reduced to calling a company 'c*nts' in the subject line of your thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,463 ✭✭✭shinzon

no it doesnt show a lack of intelligence

where the lack of intelligence comes in is when peolpe come in here berating someone who displays his true feelings about a company and then trying to hide behind political correctness and then denying he is and then saying the complete opposite of what he just said

Every kid over the age of seven knows what the C word means, and if he doesnt then hes lived a sheltered life

This has gone completely off topic at this stage

Mods close thread and for the easily offended among us add the c word to the swear word list that cant be used, there simple request done dusted get on with your lives

    Shin

Well, I have to say BrianD has a point. The language is actually quite offensive.

And I also agree with his point on the customer services team. They're a bunch of ordinary people, like you and me, who are paid to try and help you as best you can. There is no point in swearing or screaming at them - what can they do? It's ntl thats crap, not customer care. They should not have to be verbally abused by an angry customer. If you want to abuse someone, abuse mark mohan, managing director.

    email him: mark.mohan@ntl.com

Alright, this threads gone way off point. I'm not in a tolerant mood after that other thread...

Criticising NTL's faults is allowable, but this is going way off point and the langauge used in this thread is ridiculous.

Reasoned argument, people. If you want one, feel free to start a new thread.

    Thread Closed.
