    In the 80's he had a stand up show on BBC (I think?) with similar format to that of Jasper Carrot ie 30 mins of him on stage telling innoffencive jokes to anyone who'd listen.

    He looked (at least from memory) a bit like that guy Chris Barrie (rimmer from Red Dwarf) and his trademark was
    (1) to make these horrible gurning faces esp with amazingly flared nostrils and
    (2) to do an 'impression' of JR from Dallas by doing nothing more than taking quick gulp of whiskey followed by a high pitched sn1ggering sound.

    Does it ring any bells for anyone?

    Phil Cool was HUGE for about 3-4 years in the mid-80s. He had a regular show on the beeb and popp;ed up plenty other places as a guest star/personality.

    Then....nothing. He was gone. God only knows what the story was. Maybe he had a meltdown or he offended someone important.
