Well, with regards to my post on the post about rory's guitar i went about buying a body off of ebay. I found a hand crafted strat made from alder not stained or touched in anyway at all!

The bidding started at 20 dollars and went up to 43! I had 70 to go with, but in the last minute a bid was thrown in at 45 dollars and i was too late :/

In my defeat i went onto Fenders website and decided to look at buying straight from the source. It turns out fender only sell full guitars and wont issue bodies and necks unless you have previously owned a stratocaster and it has broken in some way shape or form. You have to send in your old part and they replace it (next to free of charge) with the exact piece broken.

So, me having an older mexican strat (which is in bits)gave the lads at fender a call. Apparently having machine heads ripped off your stock is not really a big deal to fender, so they wont reissue me a neck or body.

So the trek goes on - ill keep you all updated on my progress with regards to my attempt at a Gallagher stratocaster!

    reD.

    They do indeed.

    Also check out http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bodies,_necks,_wood.html

There's a load of companies over there who sell parts. Even Fender sell necks, bodies, etc individually.

By the way, StewMac are incredibly expensive. Head over to Project Guitar and ask around in the forums. There's a builder from Dublin that posts there occasionally.
