    Yesterday I was getting a strange popup regarding downloading spyware protection.
    Today for some unknown reason I can not use my dial up modem (error message saying that the port is already open ). Hoping someone might have some ideas, Here my log

    If it's a DUN error 602 then chances are a dialer is using your modem, install spybot search and destroy; remove all spyware components and fix any problems that they may have caused.

    It is probably a porn dialer or some other communications-based software, but I'm not one to make assumptions. Let me know how this goes.

    I'm beginning to think the modem's dead. Spybot S&D turned up nothing. I've tried reinstalling and all the other obvious stuff. I really don't think it's a virus

    Run the online scan at www.pestscan.com/scan.asp .
    It should tell you whats suspicious on pc.

    Try ad-aware as well, i have found that the 3 proggys in question would have to be run as each detects separate hijackers/spyware individually.

    Also trawl through the software section in registry, i once found a dialer by EGroup which grinded a pc to a halt in work.
