to be honest, it looks like you are hiring a consultant to write business plans for companies.

    more or less....

The market analysis section of the business plan studies factors like these:
    · The market’s geographic boundaries: Are we a local or UK firm competing in a limited area, or are we competing across a region or world-wide?
    · The market niche we’re targeting: Are we “the best support/experts for the best price,” or are we “the CIO’s strategic partner”?
    · The characteristics that define our target prospects: Are we going after the small and medium business market, or the Fortune 500? Are we focusing on integrated giants, or the mama-papa outfits in West Texas?
    · The size and potential of the selected markets: This is where the discipline of reality must be applied. You may hope for a 20 percent penetration and millions of dollars of revenue, but does the market you’ve targeted support those projections?

So it's Market Analysis as opposed to Marketing Analysis? What does the job specification say about written and verbal communication skils?

to do marketing, you need to understand the market :)

i mean, if you are selling butchers knives, youre not going to put an add in computer weekly, are you?
    :)

with regards to the being able to use english, who knows?
maybe mr Habaca will answer you oin his return. and maybe im way off with what he wants from marketing analysis?
    /me shrugs.
im only offering opinions, not facts :)

to be honest, i really looks like a business development manger, except in contract form, which would be really cool if i lived in ireland, but sadly not :(

    True.

But there is a huge difference between marketing analysis (analysing marketing as a function) and market analysis (analysing the market as an entity). I have never heard of a job role or function under the heading of marketing analysis!

Anyhow, yes I agree that the spec does sound challanging and it would be intersesting to here a reply from Mr Habaca on his return.
