Monitor woes

Got a new iiyama 19" VM 1451 today.
It was a replacement for a dodgy hansol.
Anyway, i was all happy to have my new monitor.
Set it up, installed the necessary drivers from iiyama.
Everything looking good, lets crank it up to 1600x1200.
When it goes into 1600x1200 it doesn't display properly on the screen.
I have to use the mouse to scroll across the screen.
It's like it's displaying at 1280x1024 but the desktop is actually 1600x1200.
I contacted iiyama about it, and they responded pretty quickly, saying that it was most likely a faulty monitor and that i should send them my details so they could replace it.
But i'm not sure that they'll replace it here as it's outside the UK.
So i'll probably end up going through another long RMA process.
It took months for the last RMA to go through.

Does anyone know of others having this problem?
Anyway i can fix it myself?
The monitor is perfect in 1280x1024 but i wanted a monitor that could run at 1600x1200.

    Killian

i take it you mean the coloured desktop only takes up part of the screen.

If thats the case, just use the monitor controls to stretch the image until it fills the whole screen.

no he means the desktop is larger tan the screen area, so only bout 2/3rds of the screen is in view. if u move the mouse pointer off the screen itll scroll the image.
